So you’ve just got engaged and you start seeing adverts for wedding fayres and suppliers all over your Facebook newsfeed. Not to mention the nudges from family and friends asking how you’re planning is going or if you’ve set a date yet. The expectation to know precisely where and how to start planning your special day is a little overwhelming. Don’t worry we are here to help!
Where do I start?
This is where wedding fayres are a fantastic tool at your disposal. They give you a chance to walk around and gather ideas about what you need to plan. Yes, the suppliers there will ask you if you’ve set a date yet, or if you and your partner have chosen a venue. This is okay, it allows you to start the thinking process. Everyone will be handing out brochures and leaflets and sometimes you will get a couple of free bridal magazines too! All of these bits of paper can be popped in the free bag you will more than likely have received on entry and reviewed at home later. Use them to create a list of what you want to organise and book and you can always note down the names of any companies or people you really liked.
I already know what I want, I have it all pinned and can buy everything online! Should I still go?
Yes! Definitely, yes! The internet is a fantastic resource for gathering ideas and inspiration, especially with websites like Pinterest at your fingertips. The only problem with viewing everything on a screen is that you can’t feel it, you can’t touch it or truly see the colours. Yes, you could send off for those stationery samples but that can get pricey and does the website you are browsing through have a friendly smile and perhaps offer you a sneaky free lolly while you chat? Suppliers at wedding fayres are there to talk to you and introduce you to themselves as well as their products. Remember that gelling with the supplier can be very important as you will more than likely be working with them on and off up until your wedding and you may even be seeing them on the day. A photographer, for example, will be there when you get ready, right through until you stick on those dancing shoes and sometimes longer so it is important you like them as well as their work. Planning a wedding is a big job and a lot of hard work, speaking to suppliers can also give you the help and advice that you may not have realised was so useful.
Can I show my ideas to the suppliers or will I come across as Bridezilla?
We are there to help you make your special day just as magical and wonderful as you want it to be. Discussing what you want from a supplier can really help both of you work out what is best for your wedding. When it comes to stationery we believe that you shouldn’t have to settle for ‘kind of’ what you want if we can create exactly what you want instead.
What kind of suppliers can I expect to see?
Wedding fayres host many different suppliers and you can chat to as many or as few as you like. Most wedding fayres are actually held at potential wedding venues and this gives you a great chance to have a little nosey before booking to have a chat with their wedding and event planners. The other people you will more than likely see are a variety of; photographers, wedding dress shops, suit hire companies, stationers, ring suppliers, entertainers, food vendors, hair and make-up experts and oh, the list goes on. Fayres give you a great opportunity to see things that you hadn’t even thought of and have a chat about whether they are the right thing for you and your day.
